Baritone Luke Terence Scott is a rising cavalier baritone. Born in Scotland, Scott went south to England for his studies and then north to Finland. The launch of Scott’s professional career saw him making his debut at the Savonlinna Opera Festival in Roméo et Juliette alongside stars like Lisette Oropesa as ‘Juliette’ in 2023. This debut came swiftly off the heels of his debut with the Sinfonia Lahti, Helsinki Chamber Orchestra and followed by singing under the legendary baton of Jorma Panula with the Vantaa Symphony Orchestra.

Helsinki, Finland has become Scott’s home and musical base. He made his much celebrated house debut at the Finnish National Opera as ‘Mr. Pilkington’ in the Finnish premiere of Alexander Raskatov’s Animal Farm in the acclaimed production by Damiano Michieletto. Riding off the heels of Animal Farm’s success, Scott was invited to return as ’Marchese d’Obigny’ in the Finnish National Opera’s historic Giancarlo del Monaco production of La Traviata seeing him perform in it’s 200th performance. His career has been taking flight to Europe too, Scott debuted with the National Theatre Prague for the world debut of Voseček’s Ogres and is set to perform in the opening concert of the 75th Berliner Festspiele’s Musikfest Berlin as ’The Black Minister’ in Ligeti’s Le Grand Macabre with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra.

Scott has been further embraced by Finland, performing around the country with their world leading orchestras and festivals. From Lapland to Uusimaa and from Karelia to Åland, Scott has been singing for the Finland’s audience in festivals such as the renowned Turku Music Festival, Pellinge Musikdagar Chamber Music Festival and orchestra’s such as the Finnish Chamber Orchestra, Sinfonia Lahti, Jyväskylä Sinfonia, Vaasa City Orchestra and Lohja City Orchestra.

Scott  has never shied away from competition, he was the overwhelming winner of the Finnish Wagner Society’s Bayreuther Festspiele Scholarship prize and Audience prize, these prizes saw him attend the renowned Bayreuther Festspiele in Summer 2024 and be selected to perform in the International Scholarship Holder Concert.

During his studies at the Sibelius Academy, Guildhall School of Music & Drama and the Royal Northern College of Music, Scott regularly competed in international competitions and was a finalist in the 7th edition of the Paris Opera Competition held at the Palais Garnier. Also he is the winner of the Special Prize for Song from the SOI Cedolins International Competition 2024. He was a soloist & young artist for the Buxton International Opera Festival, soloist for London Symphony Orchestra’s Community Choir and Sibelius Academy Symphony Orchestra. Finally, Scott has always believed in exploring modern repertoire and he was part of the original cast of Uljas Pulkkis’ All the Truth’s We Cannot See which was performed in both Helsinki and Los Angeles as a partnership between the Sibelius Academy & University of Southern California.
